Registration - stage 1 complete The first stage of registration for the 2009 World Hang Gliding Championships is now complete, with 35 nations confirming their participation. So far, 122 places out of a potential maximum of 130 have been reserved. Therefore, according to the Local Regulations, there will be no further places allocated at this time. If the number drops below 120 before the 20 May deadline, then one round of allocation will commence. This will give the top nations the option to enter a fifth pilot. Nations are required to ensure that all the reserved places are nominated and paid for in full by 1st April. This will give us a further opportunity to confirm whether or not there will be allocation of remaining places. For fairness, it was decided that allocation would only be initiated if 10 or more places were available. Pilots and team leaders are reminded that the currently approved Local Regulations for this event can be downloaded from: www.fai.org/hang_gliding/LocalRegulations However, any changes to the FAI Sporting Code agreed at the CIVL Plenary Meeting in February in Austria, will be published at the end of April. The 2009 Sporting Code, Section 7 rules will be in force for this World Championships in June. Therefore, if necessary, some changes may be made to the Local Regulations. These will be posted here as soon as they are agreed by CIVL. |
